Accept and Dole Out the Pain

Before being dropped from selection, a Special Forces candidate asked the Sergeant why they had to march another 15 miles in the rain when everyone was already cold and exhausted and they had just marched 15 miles? The sergeant dismissively answered, “What part of “Special” don’t you understand?”

When you join the military, there is a good chance you’ll get hurt and some chance, based on your job, that you’ll be killed. Police officers, firefighters, air marshals and border patrol agents are a few of the potentially dangerous jobs. There is prestige. There is danger. You didn’t know this?

You didn’t know that when you fight, you stand a good chance of getting hurt? Taking a beating does hurt. Beat downs really hurt and the pain lingers. Hopefully, all you will be is hurt and in pain and not injured or worse.
