Protect Yourself from Domestic Violence

Accept that a violent domestic partner who has anger management issues can victimize anyone, spouse or children or both.   If you feel controlled, isolated, intimidated, anxious, depressed, humiliated, belittled at home or embarrassed by your partner’s behavior toward you in public, recognize and admit your problem.

If you have the mindset, you can make clear your willingness to fight back with all means possible. You will avenge any wrongs. This is a deterrent.

Counseling domestic abusers occasionally works in the short run. Separation does work in the long run.

There is help. Physical assault is a crime. Emotional abuse can leave lasting scars. Call the police, support groups and a lawyer. You must believe that you deserve and have the right to be loved, valued and safe.

Never embarrass or bring shame upon yourself.
