Let McDonald’s be your research and development department.

McDonald’s spends millions of dollars figuring out what are the best salt and pepper shakers.

What’s the weight, the feel, the color of the shaker, the easy of opening? How much salt comes out with each shake?

McDonald’s hires engineers and nutritionists and purchasing agents to figure out the best salt shakes.

You don’t have to do this.  McDonald’s has already done this for you.

Do you have a more upscale restaurant?  Then you are also learning.  You are learning that your salt shakers have to be an improvement over the McDonald’s salt shakers.  What does an improved salt shaker even mean?  You need to know.

The napkins, the “silverware,” the lighting, the take out bags, the outside landscaping, the uniforms, the quality and freshness of the food and on and on and on.

McDonald’s will spend more than a million dollars on salt shakers and in the process, teach you a lot.

What is Taco Bell and Staples and Amazon and Starbucks and Apple and Mercedes and the Four Seasons teaching you?
