QUESTION: Master Bill, I just earned by green belt. I have confidence in my dojo fighting abilities. But, how do I know that my skills would be effective in a real fight on the street?

ANSWER: Congratulations on your promotion.

Your most important self-defense skill is your confidence. Maintain your strong presence. Stand tall. Breath slowly and deeply. Relax your hands and jaw. Most aggressors are looking for a submissive victim and not a violent confrontation. Assess the situation. Give up replaceable possessions. However, if your life is on the life, you must go all-in with confidence. This is a warrior.
