Mindful Golf

Mindfulness is being brutally honest with yourself.  Mindfulness is a willingness to ask for constructive criticism even when the feedback may not be what we want to hear.

Gary Player is one of the greatest golfers of all time. One day, a typical day for him, Gary was at the range whacking ball after ball.  A fan came up him and said, “Wow, Gary, I’d give anything to hit a drive like you.”

To which Gary responded, “OK, tomorrow morning get here at 7 AM when the range opens.  Get twenty buckets of fifty balls and hit a 1,000 drives. Now, for a few weeks, your hands will be swollen and maybe a little bloody so before you practice stick your hands in a bucket of ice to numb them.  Then, get your twenty buckets and hit another 1,000 balls.”

Reports are that the disgruntled fan shuffled off swearing under his breath.  The fan apparently not appreciating Gary’s truthfulness.
